I will be running the Brighton Marathon on Sunday 10th April to raise awareness and fundraise for Young Lives VS Cancer and Start the Wave. I have been training for this since March 2020 as the original event has been cancelled twice due to the pandemic.
To be in line with Start the Wave's pillars, I promised in January 2020 to train for this event on a completely Vegan diet and I will continue keep this promise until the event is complete (and likely beyond it!). I've litter picked during training runs, bought 2nd hand running equipment and I've been using minimal waste food as fuel whilst running. I have chosen a marathon that is fairly close to me to keep transport milage down. I have also chosen to run in Brighton as it aligns with all of Start the Wave's pillars. It continues to grow its sustainability efforts as a city, it is home to many incredibly diverse and inclusive communities and it UK's capital for pride. I am looking forward to finally getting to run the event next month and represent two incredible non-profits. I would love to fundraise as much as possible for Start the Wave with this event, so that is can provide funding for more beautiful projects in the future. Any help with this from the community would be greatly appreciated.
